Edible Mayonnaise vs Hair Mayonnaise for Hair Conditioning Part 1 My Hair Test
I have a friend who is transitioning her hair she asked a lot of questions about using edible mayonnaise for her hair.
Firstly, I have never tried using edible mayonnaise for my hair since I already have a jar of hair mayonnaise so I felt there was no need.
Why waste my bread spread on my hair.
On a second thought, I decided to try and see how differently it would work.

Firstly, I have never tried using edible mayonnaise for my hair since I already have a jar of hair mayonnaise so I felt there was no need.
Why waste my bread spread on my hair.
On a second thought, I decided to try and see how differently it would work.
I called it My Edible Mayonnaise Hair Test.
Things 1 used
- A plate
- A spoon
- Towel
- shower cap
- Olive oil
- Mayonnaise
Procedure
- I mixed three tbsp mayonnaise and one and half tbsp of olive oil
- I whipped the entire mix together thoroughly
- I sectioned into smaller parts and applied mayo mix on each section, massaging gently
- Then I knotted my entire hair in one piece, covered with my shower cap and wrapped with a warm towel for 30 minutes.
- I washed my hair with lukewarm water oily, styled and allowed to air dry
Observations about the edible mayonnaise
- The mixture melted completely upon application so I did not see anything creamy mayo on my hair.
- Mayonnaise is a lot of oil already, Olive oil made it much more.
- After application, I looked like I was sweating but no way, it was excess oil dripping down all over my face.
- Sharp mind like me, rubbed it all over my face "facial moisturizing idea for this harmattan dry weather, freezing me up in Abuja, early in the morning".
Conclusion
- Four hours later, I rubbed my hand through my hair and still feel a bit of oil.
- My hair feels well moisturized but not weighed down. The oil is no heavy at all,
- It also made my hair glossier.
This is another way to give your hair a moisturizing treatment.
I do not know about the other benefits of edible mayonnaise on hair since this it is my first time trying.
I know that moisturizing the hair strengthens the hair follicles inhibits breakage, it is conducive for hair growth and I guess that edible mayonnaise will be a good one for that.
According to product description, the mayonnaise I used contained oil, egg, lemon so it is a good one.
And yes! my face got some moisturizing smooth.
I will definitely love to try it again but first, lets see how much effect it have on hair when compared with hair mayonnaise.
