My Home Made Throw Pillows - Business Idea

I cherish and look forward to my free time because that is when I unleash all my ideas.
I always try to make the best out of it.
Just like I told you before, I am very creative.
You will soon understand why I said that.

This was exactly what I did with my last free time.

MY DECORATIVE THROW PILLOW

You want to know how?

Materials:
Fiber: I bought it from the market. it comes in sheets but you will have to separate it into pieces like this. You can also see shops selling already separated fiber in kg

Scissors

Measuring tape
Raw Silk fabric: There are single face and double faced.
I used the double face fabric because it is thicker, though more expensive, it gives you room for work flexibility and a good finishing.

A white bed sheet or linen depending on what you can afford

Others are, sewing machine, hand needle(optional) and thread.

My first project was very lovely decorative throw pillow. my intention was to create something different, that would add color to a home.

                                                             Sewing the pillow
Measured out and cut two parts of 20 by 10 inches of the white fabrics.

Sew the fabrics, end to end on the three sides and leave one side of the width open.
Stuff with the fiber until you are satisfied with the size of your pillow.
Then sew up the open side.
This is what you get
Sewing the pillow cover

Measure out and cut two parts of 18 by 9 inches of the raw silk.
(Notice that the measurement size of the pillow is more than that of the cover. This will make the throw pillow look full and beautiful. when it is finally stuffed).

Join one end of the length to the other end.
Open the joining using a hot pressing iron.
Place the front part of the zipper downwards to the back side of the stitches. Sew the three sides of the zip to the fabric and sew the of the fourth side just after the zipper head.
You get something like this

Fold it back into two halves with zipper at the top edge and sew all the four sides.
Open the zip through the back side
Use a razor blade to loosen the stitches to open through for the zip and turn over to the front side and there you have you pillow cover

This is not exactly what you have but not to worry, there was an extra work.

Decorating the throw pillow

Cut pieces of different fabrics into small squares of circle.
Draw a heart, square or any shape of you choice on the fabric using a pencil.
The from the inside (ie back) of the pillow cover, using a hand needle, start sewing each piece or two on the line you have drawn.
Make sure you sew them so close to get more beautiful work.

Everything cost 8 thousand naira. I sold ten in three days and used the rest for my bed.
This can be your business - just make the money.

More designs, next week.
