Akon Launches Solar Power Academy, Project "Akon Lightning Africa"

Akon is set to bring electricity to 600 million rural communities across African, through his "Akon Lightning Africa" project.


To make this project a reality, the Senegalese-American descendant has recently opened a Solar Academy, located in Banako, Mali.

The Academy is aimed at helping engineers produce solar power.

In the closing session of the just concluded second United Nations Sustainable Energy for All Forun (SE4A), commendations were made at the progress generated by the Akon Lightning Initiative.

its Founders Akon, Thione Niang and Samba Bathily said they are already making plans and looking forward to the future.

This Solar Academy project is being introduced under the patronage of Solektra International, a partner of Akon Lightning Africa, in collaboration with some European experts, who will supply training  equipment and programs.
