PARIS LOVE PAD LOCKS REMOVED, see pictures
The popular trend of lovers locking padlocks on the Pont des Art bridge railings, has been broken.
According to the officials, nearly 1 million padlocks weighing about 45 pounds have been locked to the bridges' railings and it has posed a threat to one of the city's most iconic bridge.
The love lock trend hit Paris in 2008 and since then, it has been a long chain of love stories.
The local official said they have tried to persuade lovers to take selfies instead of the lock but the campaign has been to no avail.
Officials began removing the railings alongside to locks early Monday morning.
The metal railing which run 155 meters will be replace with padlock proof panels, made out of flexiglass.
