Essential Oils for Dandruff Treatment: My Hair Tests and Results

Essential Oils for Dandruff Treatment Test and Results

I applied it undiluted. Yes, but with caution. I applied it to the front part of my hair where the sight of dandruff clusters flops my make -up.

In just two days. the dandruff reduced drastically.

My Thinning and Breaking Hair

My hair is naturally very soft and fragile. Despite the fact that I have not applied relaxer, I have had difficulty controlling dandruff.
In less than one week after I braid or weave, my hair itches and tiny scales of dandruff will definitely fall off.
The worst part of it is, the dandruff clusters in tiny particles around the root of my braids causes the hair in that region to fall off, leaving behind a bald surface.

From my experience, the things I know about dandruff is that it is fungal, itches and it thrives well on dry scalp.
At first, I started to oil my scalp every now and then but i noticed that it made my hair to easily trap dirt and the itching did not stop. Each time I scratch my hair, it left dirt under my nails,

I heard about using home remedy and essential oils so I started to read and experiment different essential oil.

Castor Oil:

This was the first essential oil for hair that got me.
It is a very heavy oil and I was afraid it would trap dirt so got a carrier oil to dilute before I applied.

Almond Oil:

This is the Carrier oil used I to dilute the castor oil.
I washed my hair every two days and i applied a very thin film of these oil after every wash.

After two weeks, the results was not too significant, maybe because I haven't used it for a long period.
I notice the itching kind of reduced and the dandruff was not going off. Then my third option

Rosemary Oil:

This oil is anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and have been used for various hair treatment including treating dandruff. It has a menthol kind of aroma and it is soothing for cold and catarrh. It can also be used for spa and aromatherapy massage.
According to the books, it helps stimulate hair follicles and also make hair grow stronger and longer. I am going to find that out over time

This small bottle cost about N3080. But I did't regret it because every drop of it is quite effective. it can last for over 6 months depending on what you are using it for.

The articles I read about Rosemary oil said that it should be dilute in a carrier oil. Almond Oil was my best bet since I have a big bottle already.

On a second thought, I decided not to go by the books but by experiment.

I applied it undiluted. Yes, but with caution. I applied it to the front part of my hair where the sight of dandruff clusters flops my make -up.

In just two days. the dandruff reduced drastically. I diluted it in the ratio of 4:7, for Rosemary oil and Almond Oil or Castor Oil respectively.

This was my remedy for two weeks and the result was overwhelming.

Considering all the benefits for my hair when I used these other oils, I decided to prepare my Moisturizing Home remedy for dandruff treatment.
