5 Steps That Keeps You in Control For Growing a Healthy Natural Hair
In the last four months, I notice that my hair had stopped growing, was easily breaking and I had a lot of dandruff to deal with.
So I found, I have worked out a regimen, to deal with my hair issue and it worked for me.
The most common cleansing product for natural hair is homemade/handmade soaps.
Avoid commercial soaps because they contain Sodium laureth sulfate or Sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES). These chemical are used as a forming agent and surfactant for commercial soap, shampoo and toothpaste.
Use sulfate free soaps and shampoo that are not drying to the hair or co-wash (wash with conditioner)
Depending on your kind of hair and amount of products used on your hair, it is preferable to wash hair regularly, at least once or twice every week.
You will discover your cleansing preference over time.
Deep conditioning the hair, at least once a month with protein rich products is a go-go for me.
The most common natural hair protein are honey, eggs, yogurt, avocado and mayonnaise.
You can create your DIY from these but keep in mind that mayonnaise already contains egg and oil so you might not need to add more eggs to it.
I always tell myself, "too much or too less is too bad".
Find the right only for your hair type. Use carrier oils along side heavy oils like castor oil to avoid clogging dirt on your hair.
It is preferable to oil hair at night so that it does not look weighed down by the next morning.
I oil and massage my hair while it is still wet, it helps the hair easily absorb moisture while drying.
The most common moisturizers for me are, Shea Butter, Olive oil, Coconut oil. Avocado oil
You can also make your whipped DIY with Shea butter and incorporate all other oils of your choice. Make sure the oils you use is doing something good to your hair.
This is another important part is growing our natural. If it goes wrong, can lead to serious hair damage and breakage.
I prefer to detangle my hair while it is still wet but first, I finger comb, then apply a little moisturizer to make it slimy, then wet it.
I don't have to wash my hair before detangle but I spray my water mix which contains water, coconut oil and olive oil. you can use any preferred oil of your choice.
There are also natural hair detangling products in the market.
Styling of hair can make or break hair. I have experience both sides. Tight braids, weaves and styling hair daily can pull off your hair.
Low manipulative styling like twist, cornrows, perming, soft braiding, crotchet braiding, styles that keep you in control of your hair such that you would not have to style your hair daily helps in growing healthy hair.
