Achieve Dreadlocks Look On Your Hair Without Actually Dreading Your Hair. Using Perm Rods
For two past two weeks, People had commended a lot about my hair. Most people thought i was transitioning to dreadlocks.
For the records, I cut my hair a year and half ago and started grooming it un-relaxed virgin hair.
I had issues with what to do on my hair so i was caught between braiding and weaving and even wearing wigs.
Due to breakage and dandruff, I decided to style my natural hair for a while.
Today I want to share on "How to Achieve Dreadlocks Without Actually Dreading Your Hair".
Who says you can't roll or perm your African natural, un-relaxed hair. I did and it is beautiful.

The procedure can be done on relaxed hair but the outcome is different.
The Dreadlocks look can only be achieved on un-relaxed hair.
Things Used and How I achieve the look
Afro Comb:
I used this to straighten out my hair
After I had washed my hair. I applied my DIY whipped cream on my scalp.
DIY Whipped Shea Butter with Coconut Oil, Rosemary Oil, Olive Oil, Castor Oil.
I applied little amount evenly to avoid clogging my hair with oil which would have affected the strength of the gel.
I sectioned my hair into small parts and rolled evenly.
Ossat Naturals, Curl Defining Gel:
This curl defining Gel is used to wet hair, make it sleek and easy to roll on to the perm rod. It also enhances the curling effect
Perm Rods:
I used size 12 for this style
Sazzy Spritz liquid Gel:
This liquid gel was sprayed into my hair, when i had finished rolling to the perm rod.Steps to Achieve the Dreadlocks look for your un-relaxed hair
- Section your hair into three parts and knot these sections because you are doing it your self. This sectioning will also allow you easy access while working through your hair.
- Comb the first part of the section. If it feels too dry, spray a mixture of water and oil unto you hair to wet.
- On that same section, apply the curl defining Gel till its sleek.
- Wrap/Roll your hair on the perm rod and secure.
- After wrapping each of the three sections, spray the liquid gel dip into your hair for a super hold.
- When it is all dried up, take out the perm rods carefully
- Separate each culled up section of your hair into two or three parts, depending on the size and how much volume you want for the dreadlocks look.
- you will notice that all the separated part will form a spiral individually.
After it dried and I took off the Perm Rod
After I separated each curled part.
NOTE:
- For a more beautiful result, wash hair first and follow this step while you hair is still wet.
- Section hair into small part for a more spiral and dreadlocks result.
- While you roll your hair, keep your hand straight upwards so that you can evenly roll your hair to the root.
- You can use any good curl defining gel for this.
